I feel the conflict within you, Lego of your hate.

A few weeks ago we compiled a list of essentials to see you through the lockdown. One thing we forgot, was the worlds favourite toy, or “…a highly sophisticated interlocking brick system…” as Will Ferrell’s character claims in The Lego Movie.

We love Lego here at Patently, we’re ‘Kidults’ to the core, and every year we have a Star Wars themed ‘build-off’ on the fourth of May. Why that date you ask…

Usually it’s in the office after work with takeaway pizza and several ‘grown-up lemonades’, this year will be different as we’re all stuck at home. So we’ve gone all out and scoured amazon and ebay to find two of the biggest and best Start Wars Lego sets we can, and we’ll be splitting the pieces up and building the sections over Teams.

Team Alliance will be working on 75192 — Millennium Falcon™

Team Empire will be working on 75252 — Imperial Star Destroyer™

We’ll add an update when we have a winner.

If you are still adamant that Lego is for kids, the makers disagree too and currently have a whole line for us 18+’s. The next sets are rumoured to kick-off a new Lego Wall Out theme, with an initial offering of four sets:

LEGO Wall Art, Marilyn Monroe — Andy Warhol Pop Art (31197)

3,341 pieces | Expected release date: August 3, 2020

LEGO Wall Art, The Beatles (31198)

2,933 pieces | Expected release date: August 3, 2020

LEGO Wall Art, Iron Man (31199)

3,406 pieces | Expected release date: October 1, 2020

LEGO Wall Art, The Sith (31200)

3,167 pieces | Expected release date: October 1, 2020

We have no idea what these will actually look like, and will have to wait a few months to find out. In the mean time, we actually think some of Lego’s patents are beautiful enough to be considered art in their own right:

Do you agree? Are there any other patents with images you think are beautiful enough to be hung on a wall? Let us know via social media.
